"All the vultures circle us to feed, because they dont see the difference between death disguised as life and life with lifeless eyes." This is a lyric from the band (my favorite band) A Lot Like Birds. As I was figuring out this piece and how I wanted all the elements to fit together, I was listening to their album "No Place" and everything just fell into place. This concept of mundane and empty living is something I always rebel against. Empty faces, same old places - it all bleeds together to create a husk of a person. The faces here in the griffon vultures wings represent quite literally those lives. There is a lot to take in here, as this is the largest pen and ink drawing ive ever done. I dont want to give everything away, but I will tell you to look closely at the faces and see if you notice anything underlying. And can you spot the difference present in one head specifically? Oh and I really wanted to draw feathers turning into foliage...so I did.
