A New York native who currently resides in North Carolina, artist and illustrator Matthew Trupia employs various styles to create diverse, original concepts and compositions. His love for drawing began at age six and he went on to earn his Masters of Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012. He is most influenced by his direct environment, specifically people. However, he also consumes a wide range of art which adds to his stylistic vocabulary.
Art is not just a form of expression for Matthew. It serves as a means to portray his observations for anyone willing to look: “So much goes unseen in our day to day,” Trupia says. “My aim is to raise questions about those scenarios and crowds are my favorite subject for observational expressionism.”
He has been featured in various print and online publications since 2013. To date, his works have been exhibited in Savannah and Raleigh, Durham, and Mebane.
